"As women, we need to support rather than demonise one another. The term “real women” needs to be banished from our vocabularies. We need to stop comparing ourselves, not only to whoever happens to be on the cover of the magazines this week, but to the women we encounter in our daily lives. We need to stop assuming that there’s a body type we should all strive for. That there’s a single body type that is sexually attractive, or for that matter, that our goal with our appearance is to become sexually attractive. We need to exercise, regardless of our size, with the intention of creating a strong and healthy body that functions as best as it can, with the external results being a secondary benefit, not the other way around. We need to stop looking for role models with the bodies we aspire to have, and instead look for women with attitudes and lifestyles that inspire us. We also need to realise that celebrities are people too. While they may have the time and money to spend on perfecting the way they look, being called a freak on national television because of your body type is hurtful, no matter who you are."

Sometimes I rant at people in forums, and people internet stalk me and find my rants and quote them on tumblr, then I reblog them, because I’m awesome or something?

The author of this is laying next to me cackling at her own apparent cleverness. She’s super clever, everyone. *whistles*

She IS super clever, and we see this issue from the same angle. But you’re both total dorks.
